Rachel

Rachel Carter is a soprano soloist who has degrees in English and Live Arts Performance. Her concert appearances include Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, Hummel’s Missa Solemnis in C, Schubert’s Mass in G, Maunder’s Bethlehem and Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music. She has been guest soloist with many groups including Newquay Choral Society, Camborne Town Band, Restormel Concert Band, RCB Soul and Swing as well as various male voice choirs. She has sung at the Royal Albert Hall in Classical Spectacular. She has won many awards for singing at music festivals including County Vocal Championship in 2008 and 2010. She has participated in masterclasses with Richard Jackson, Russell Smythe, David Sulkin, Molly Petrie, Joe Shovelton, Mary Hammond and Sarah Kettner.

Rachel’s operatic roles include Dido in Dido and Aeneas with Helston Chamber Choir and Marlene in One Day, Two Dawns with English Touring Opera (Winner of London Philharmonic Award for Best Community Education Project of 2009). She has also taken part in The Wreckers with Duchy Opera and Die Fledermaus, The Marriage of Figaro and Cavalleria Rusticana with New Cornwall Opera. Her musical roles include Cinderella in The Slipper and the Rose, Julie in Carousel, Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, Miss Hannigan in Annie and The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. She has also taken parts in numerous plays, receiving CDA Best Actress nominations for her roles as Angela in Abigail’s Party and Shelby in Steel Magnolias.

Rachel is also a fully qualified Makeup Artist and Beauty Therapist based in Perranporth and Newquay and able to cater for the surrounding areas.
