If we have liaised with your school to provide lessons and you have received a letter, read about us in a school newsletter or we have provided a demonstration in an assembly then please read on…
There are places available for your child to learn to play the keyboard in school. The skills taught include correct posture and hand positions, correct reading of musical notation, including chords and using various voices and styles to enhance a song. The music taught will include simple traditional tunes, as well as blues improvisation and modern pieces. Group collaboration and performing in concerts to an audience is encouraged. The cost is £5.90 per lesson.
All ages from Y1 to Y6 are catered for, with each lesson tailored to the ability of each pupil.
Suitable keyboards, that include all the features needed to learn on, can be purchased from a variety of places and for as little as £50, or much less second hand. A varied selection of tunes and worksheets are provided and keyboards are available for the lesson if needed, enabling a good start in learning the keyboard to be made from the beginning.
The lessons are structured to make learning fun, after which the pupils can practice and enjoy playing the keyboard for a short time each day at home, to continue their learning and perhaps play in various school events.
