Online teaching has lots of positive benefits. It is a way of teaching that really focuses attention and lots can be achieved in a lesson. With this in mind I am delighted to be able to offer online lessons.
I use Zoom or Skype. You don’t need any special equipment; just a computer, tablet or smartphone.
The lessons can be a 20, 30 minute or 1 hour individual lesson and a ‘practice notes’ follow up email with practice suggestions. Lessons include work on technique and pieces and include warm ups, scales, lip flexibilities, pieces and sight reading. It is really important to me that lessons are fun and engaging and I have lots of resources to share with pupils. As a primary teacher my strength is encouraging young people to take up brass and motivating them to keep learning. I have lots of patience and adapt my lessons to suit every individual – learning is fun and inspiring and pupils feel comfortable to make mistakes and grow in confidence. For pupils who wish to take exams I use both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabus and have a 100% pass rate.
Online lessons work extremely well and pupils really make great progress. Here are some comments from some of the parents and students who have enjoyed online lessons:
My son had a weekly trumpet lesson at school with Tamsin and once lockdown began we started weekly 1-2-1 zoom lessons which have been absolutely brilliant. The lessons are fun and our son looks forward to them tremendously. His playing has improved loads and he looks forward to each lesson, they are the highlight of his ‘homeschool’ day.
Tamsin has been teaching brass to M “virtually” for the past two months. We always knew she was a great teacher, but her ability to project her personality and teach effectively over a video conferencing app is quite amazing! M has continued to make progress and create better and better sounds by the week.
Tamsin is a wonderful lady & friendly teacher who encourages & supports my daughter in her Trombone lesson. My daughter loves her lessons & looks forward to them every week. Tamsin has gone to great lengths to accommodate us as best as she can throughout these difficult times whilst juggling my work.

I have really enjoyed the online lessons. I loved getting to see Mrs. Carter during lockdown and getting set new pieces every week instead of playing the same ones over and over again. It has been wonderful to be face to face with a teacher again. Mrs. Carter has been such a brilliant teacher.’
Lessons are flexible and I can adapt to suit your requirements. Prices are very reasonable and competitive and I offer great value for money. My safeguarding training is up to date and I am fully DBS checked and can provide evidence of this.
